Teaching, tutoring and homeschooling

I am a qualified and extremely experienced primary school teacher, and teach all primary school topics and some Key Stage 3 secondary school subjects. I support pupils in school, at home and from my home in NW London.  When suitable, I teach can also teach remotely. 

ColLaborating with schools

Sometimes homeschooling is not an option or is not necessary because a child is happy in school and is accessing elements of the curriculum, but needs support in a particular area and the provision by the school is not enough. I can support a child with additional needs in their current mainstream or specialist school and can work with schools to flexi-school a child who may spend some time in school and some time being home educated.

EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING SKILLS COACHING

I am a certified Executive Functioning Coach through the Connections in Mind Foundation. Neurodivergent children often need support developing their Executive Functioning skills to enable them to manage their workload, emotions and relationships. I help children and their families create sustainable habits to improve learning and general life management. I also coach parents who may have similar executive functioning struggles to their children and benefit from regular support. I generally see adolescents and young adults once a week for 45 minutes with a 15 minute online check in later in the week.

School Advisory Service

“Best autism practice” is actually beneficial to all learners and I can advise teachers and support staff on environmental accommodations and teaching techniques to ensure the busy school environment is accessible. I also deliver training on understanding autism, ADHD and dyslexia so that staff have an up to date sense of the myriad ways neurodiversity presents itself and how best to support neurodiverse pupils in the school environment.

HOMESCHOOL ADVISORY SERVICE

Home educating is a rewarding experience, but it can be daunting. For families who wish to teach their children themselves, I can help plan curricula, advise on programmes and resources and get you started on your homeschool journey.
